Ukrainian school reforms from the perspective of philology students: PEDAGOGICAL TECHNIQUES OF THE EUROTOLERCULTURE PROJECT

On 22 February, students of the Faculty of Philology of ZNU (Zaporizhzhia National University) worked with the training module "European Mechanisms for Implementing a Culture of Tolerance and Reconciliation: Legal Models and Civil Society Initiatives", implemented within the framework of the implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ project Jean Monnet Module EUROTOLERCULTURE "European experience of of tolerance culture in the Ukrainian perspective: education, media, art".

The course developer, Iryna Bondarenko, spoke about the legal models of the Council of Europe and the European Union for the implementation of of the culture of tolerance in the field of education, media, and art. The 3rd and 4th year students of the Faculty of Philology were interested in the topic of bullying in educational institutions and ways to counteract this phenomenon in a modern school. The students were happy to share practical cases, their own experience in overcoming the intolerant attitude of participants in the educational process. The block on the protection of human rights was of particular interest to students was the block on the protection of human rights through the mechanisms of the European Court of Human Rights.

Iryna Bondarenko invited future teachers to present a package of reforms aimed at levelling the intolerant environment in secondary and higher education institutions. Interesting proposals were submitted by students of the educational programmes "Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature", "Philology. Ukrainian Language and Literature", "Polish Translation and Intercultural Olesia Shakun, Ilya Kalinichenko, Anna Dyrybyan, Liza Dimitrova, Daria Kharcheva, Iryna Ivaniv, Yelyzaveta Bloodless: implementation of a sexuality education programme for schoolchildren, an option for pupils and students to report bullying at school in the Diia app, mandatory psychological screening of teachers for aggression towards children, the formation of to children, the formation of "small" classes, and the reformatting of traditional "educational hours" into psychological therapy lessons.

The realities of war require increased attention from society and teachers to the problems of children's traumatised psyche, as well as to the formation of a culture of tolerance in the new Ukrainian school. The Erasmus+ project Jean Monnet Module EUROTOLERCULTURE is a powerful tool for change in the pedagogical environment.
