«Є два способи здійняти куряву на майданах та історичній арені – це шлях насильства і шлях добра»

Арнольд Тойнбі

Ukrainian society is once again faced with a historical challenge and the need to choose an axiological perspective and a model for the future at the crossroads of different paths. The idea of nonviolent communication becomes relevant precisely when mechanisms of mass destruction and spiritual coercion come into play.

Tolerance is an orientation towards recognizing the freedom of the Other while not excluding spiritual resistance to violence. Tolerance as nonviolent resistance is an active action that does not lead to the destruction or annihilation of individuality. Tolerance as the basis of nonviolent communication involves coexistence with the world, open dialogue, achieving harmony, cooperation, and consensus. The full-scale war has exacerbated the contradictions that Ukrainians sought to overcome through modern educational practices implemented during the integration into the European space, following the manifestation and affirmation of the corresponding political course. Statistics on gender-based violence, ethnic conflicts, language segregation among Ukrainians (issues related to the functioning of the Russian and Ukrainian languages, for example) are just some aspects that indicate the intensification of perceptions and certain moods in Ukrainian society, as well as the urgency of addressing discrimination and socio-cultural communication issues.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

  • Raise awareness among students and school audiences about policies promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion by creating an interdisciplinary integrative practical course titled "European Strategies for Building a Tolerant Society: Media, Education, Art."
  • Summarize the theoretical experience of equality, diversity, intercultural communication concepts, and develop scientifically grounded recommendations.
  • Conduct practical training sessions for representatives of professional communities.
  • Draw attention to the issue of nonviolent communication, counteraction to discrimination, and ways to build a tolerant society through the implementation of project technologies.
  • Promote the positive role of the EU in providing Ukraine with effective social construction technologies.
  • Create extensive information campaigns and expert discussions. -Shape public awareness and a responsible attitude towards diversity, inclusion, and tolerance through mass events and information days.
